Tips and advice for international students in the US
As an international student in the US, keep a few things in mind so that you do not feel too homesick, make friends and become a part of many local groups. Here are some tips and advice for doing just that!

Respect: Give respect to get respect. That is the bottom line, irrespective of your location. Americans, in particular, take a lot of pride in their country and culture. They are very patriotic in general. So, you would do well to respect this sentiment and all things American so that you blend in and make friends easily.

Learn and understand: You will need to learn a few new phrases and understand the way people talk so that you are not at a loss when you are following instructions in class and outside it. Also, you would do well to understand the culture in a better manner and enjoy various nuances of the same with your new found friends so that you have a bond with people who can help you out and make your life easier in general.

Waiting in line: One thing that you will find in most places you go to, including the place where you stay includes standing in line. Americans, in general, are very well-organized people who do not like to push and shove each other to get to a counter. Usually, whether you are in line to buy books or to see a tourist attraction, you will find that people stand in line peacefully and make the most of it, rather than complaining. So, the faster you get used to this and fall in line, the better it is for you.

Privacy: You may think that Americans are very friendly and open people because they greet strangers and friends smilingly, but you will also need to remember that they guard their privacy well too. So, do not ask too many personal questions and do remember to call before you decide to visit someone. Also, before you make plans, ask all your American friends what they are doing rather than taking it for granted that they will be available at all times. Moreover, do not expect people to simply cancel their plans for you. Inform them of your plans or a party well in advance so that they can make room for the same.

Take tips and advice from the local people to blend into your college and classroom in a better manner.
