Key Specifications of the Hyundai IONIQ Electric

Founded in 1967, Hyundai Motor Company is among the world’s leading automakers. It manufactures several types of vehicles, including electric cars, sedans, and hatchbacks. These are accessible to a large population, making the brand immensely popular. One of Hyundai’s trending models is the Hyundai IONIQ Electric. It is an option you must consider if upgrading to an electric car. Read on to learn about the IONIQ Electric’s motor engine, performance, and other features.

Key Specifications of the Hyundai IONIQ Electric

Overview
The Hyundai IONIQ Electric offers modern features and functions at a budget price. Need a car to do a grocery run, get to the local store, or pick up the kids from school? This small hatchback is perfect for your daily travels. The IONIQ electric does not offer a great driving range or visuals, but it does the job. The interiors are made of eco-friendly material, and there are several standard safety, driver-assistance, and convenience features you would look for in a hatchback. The IONIQ Electric has standard DC charging and costs roughly $34,000.

Engine and performance
The Hyundai IONIQ Electric comes with a capable motor that produces 134 hp, sending the power straight to the front wheels with the help of a single-speed direct-drive transmission. It has a zero-to-60 time of 8.8 seconds, which is slow compared to the other electric models on the market. The hatchback offers decent handling, thanks to its low mass and weighted steering wheel, but again, it is nowhere near some of the other vehicles in the same class.

Braking system
The IONIQ has a regenerative braking system with four settings controlled by wheel-mounted paddles. When the braking system is adjusted to the highest setting, the car can come to an almost complete halt by simply taking your foot off the accelerator. While this is a great feature, overall, the braking system is not very effective, which could be attributed to the low-rolling-resistance tires.

Battery and charging
The hatchback has a 38.3-kWh battery pack, lesser in capacity than those seen on rival cars. This limitation could affect long-distance travel. DC fast charging is standard on all variants, allowing the vehicle to be charged from zero to 80 percent in 54 minutes with a 100-kW connection.

Interiors and cargo
The Hyundai IONIQ Electric does its best to be as eco-friendly and sustainable as possible. To this end, some interior elements are built with eco-friendly materials, such as sugarcane and volcanic rock composites. These materials do not take away from the car’s look, feel, and aesthetic, so rest assured of a great cabin, irrespective of the trim or variant you choose. The rear seats have sufficient legroom, and you get roughly 23 cubic feet of space for storage in the back. The storage space can be increased by folding the rear seats.

Convenience features
The benefits can vary depending on the trim you choose, SE or Limited. The SE trim of the Hyundai IONIQ Electric has heated seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a seven-inch digital display for the driver, among other things. The Limited variant brings better features, including a larger 10.3-inch screen, power sunroof, leather seats, power-adjustable front seats, wireless charging, and an eight-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. Standard infotainment features include satellite radio, Bluetooth, and smartphone connectivity.

Safety
This is something you cannot ignore when buying a car. The Hyundai IONIQ Electric offers safety features like blind-spot detection, lane-keep assist, front automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, and semi-autonomous driving to keep the driver and passengers safe on the road.
